I initially suspect a problem with my power supply unit, but I’ve recently invested heavily in new hardware and want to confirm this before acquiring additional parts. I’ve utilized MSI Afterburner to monitor the temperatures and resource utilization of my processor, graphics card, and memory. Temperatures are within acceptable ranges; however, my GPU consistently operates at 98% even when I'm not heavily utilizing video memory during gameplay. I’m considering whether my ultrawide monitor might be contributing to this elevated usage beyond what the games actually demand. Let me elaborate...

Here’s a breakdown of my system configuration:

Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-8600K
Cooling: Artic MX-4 thermal paste and Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Graphics Card: Aurus GeForce GTX 1080Ti
Motherboard: MSI Z370 Gaming M5
Memory: 16GB DDR4
Power Supply: EVGA 600 B1, 80+ BRONZE 600W
Monitor: Acer XR342CK (3440x1440 ultrawide)

I also have standard peripherals connected – headphones, a microphone, keyboard, mouse, and an external hard drive. I believe running this system at its ultra-wide resolution would necessitate significantly greater power than my current 600W PSU can provide. It’s probable that this is the root cause, and I'm seeking guidance on how to verify this and recommendations for a more robust power supply unit capable of handling these demands effectively.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Could you tell me about any recent hardware upgrades you’ve made?

It’s generally positive when your graphics card reaches 98% utilization while playing games – it indicates that your computer's (CPU and RAM) performance is sufficient to handle the load. This represents GPU usage, not video memory consumption.

I wonder if you’re experiencing any issues?
