System displays a black screen following RAM upgrade.
Hey, I just upgraded my RAM but ended up seeing a black screen. It seems like the issue isn't with my other parts—since I switched back to the old RAM to test if it would work. My current setup is 64GB GSKILL Trident Z 3600mhz on an x570 Aorus Elite Mini ITX, and everything looks compatible. The rest of the components are NZXT H210i, Ryzen 7 3700X, Radeon RX 5700, etc. At first I got a black screen saying no DP input was detected, but after checking the slots it worked. When I pressed F12 it didn’t get into the BIOS menu. I tried reseating again and still got the same problem. The RGB lights come on when powered on, so seating seems fine. Any suggestions?
1) Run the test using just one slot RAM.
2) Modify the slot RAM settings.
3) Turn off the Ram Boost feature (if you misplaced the name xd) and retest.
I’d look for the latest BIOS updates. A black screen might simply mean RAM training; see if your LEDs illuminate when they’re connected. It can be very slow—sometimes hours, depending on how much RAM you have. The longer it takes, the more RAM it usually indicates. I remember 3600 could cause problems with speeds over 3000MHz, though I’m not sure if that applies to your CPU. Also, confirm your RAM is compatible with AMD, not Intel, since there are differences between brands. It should still function even if you disable XMP or similar settings.
