System Crashing issues
Hey everyone, I’m trying to understand what’s going on with my PC. Except for the rare blue screen incidents, I’ve had no problems until yesterday when I powered it off and turned it back on. That morning, it started up but kept looping. I left it running for a while before getting distracted by my kids, and when I returned around 10 minutes late, everything was working fine. The rest of the day went smoothly. This morning, when I tried to use it, the screen went black, showing no graphics, and I couldn’t do anything. I restarted and it kept looping again. I attempted some troubleshooting by removing parts and rebooting, but my GPU seemed to be the issue—something I hadn’t noticed before. I thoroughly disassembled the system, cleaned everything, and reinstalled the GPU in a different slot. The PC started working properly afterward and has been stable since. There are still some games that cause problems, like League of Legends or Rocket League, where it freezes after about 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. My PC also locks up under heavy load, similar to a blue screen, but never actually crashes. I’ve tried updating drivers and adjusting BIOS settings, even rolled back my BIOS recently, but nothing changed. If anyone has any ideas on what might be causing this issue, I’m really open to suggestions.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
600 Watt PSU
Please note the make and model of your PSU. Since it’s ten years old, consider disposing of it in the bin or placing it on a shelf (if it’s a solid unit).
Source a reliable 650W PSU, if possible, and check if the problem continues.
I replaced the PSU but didn’t see any improvement. After removing everything from my case and reassembling it, I was still getting a CPU error when booting. Once I adjusted the nuts securing the CPU cooler onto the CPU slot, it worked fine. However, whenever I boot a game that requires effort, my PC freezes after a few minutes. I’ve tried booting the PC and playing games with all components removed, including using extra RAM, but the issue persists. I’m still unsure why my PC keeps crashing this way.
