I recently upgraded my PC from a basic 2-core system to a Ryzen 3 2200G with a gigabyte A320M-S2H (bios version F58d), 8GB DDR4 at 2133MHz. Initially, I kept everything else the same—500W power supply and a Kingston 240GB SATA SSD paired with a 160GB HDD for storage. The mouse and CPU stayed as they were; the RAM came from my previous setup. At first, the machine would shut down repeatedly, sometimes five times a day or more, with no more than an hour passing between each freeze. The screen would freeze completely, appearing in AnyDesk, but the system seemed to stay on. Eventually, I replaced the PSU with a Chieftec model, which reduced the frequency of freezes by about one or two per day. After that, I added a gt210 power supply, which further cut the freezing incidents to just once daily. Still, occasional freezes occurred, most recently twice today.
I ran Memtest86 and checked drive health using two different boot drives. The issue seems tied to power delivery or a potential hardware quirk. Two other PCs on the same circuit worked perfectly for a long time. One of them was temporarily swapped in due to a Windows problem—its PSU was 500W, with an i5-6402P and 16GB RAM, which functioned without issues.
My suspicion is that this motherboard might have power-related problems despite the UPS, possibly affecting stability even with backup power. Drivers are up to date. I tried a different CPU (Ryzen 7 1700X), but the problem persisted. Disabling core parking didn’t help. I’m uncertain about other solutions now. The two remaining options are either the motherboard or the PSU. Since I changed the PSU, I’m still unsure if it was the cause, but it’s definitely a factor.
The device manager displays several yellow triangles. If you notice them, verify you have the newest chipset drivers installed—available on your motherboard’s website—and any missing drivers for devices that aren’t recognized properly. You said "drivers are updated," but I assume you meant GPU drivers...
they’re not super old, am4 is an 8-year-old app for people who want to save money and upgrade components, not a full system
