Hello, Issue: My computer froze while starting up on ASUS (refer to photo). Unclear what’s causing this or how to resolve it. Need assistance. Additional details: I generally keep my PC running and notice it becomes unresponsive (freezes) when I return from being away. The display goes dark, but other functions work fine except for responsiveness. I have to restart manually using the power button. This happens regularly, every few days. No other unusual symptoms. I can access BIOS and see drive and GPU info, but it freezes right after entering safe mode during diagnostics. I suspect a GPU problem, though I’m not certain. Online reports suggest possible Windows file issues. System specs: ROG Crosshair VIII Formula AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, 16-core processor, 3.40 GHz, 128 GB RAM, Samsung SSD 980 Pro 1TB (C drive), Windows 10 Home 21H2, OS build 19044.2251, Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.

QVL recommendation for your motherboard: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/So...?model=ROG CROSSHAIR VIII FORMULA I presume you have 4x32 slots. If your RAM isn’t listed in that setup (pay attention to the dots in the final three columns), consider switching to a 2x32 dual-channel configuration (check your manual) and test. Placing four modules can lead to stability problems in some cases. Try removing memory if reducing modules doesn’t help. If you have a friend with a functional spare GPU or an old one, use DDU from Guru3D, power down, and swap cards. You might also attempt a fresh driver install by redownloading your GPU’s driver. If that fails, reinstalling Windows could be necessary. You may need another machine to make bootable media if you can’t access Windows anymore. For guidance and downloads, visit Microsoft’s site.

It turned out the CPU was defective, so I replaced it and everything is functioning properly now.
