Hello everyone, I'm reaching out for assistance with a problem I'm facing on my PC. It's showing high memory usage when it starts up.
You’re seeing multiple applications launch automatically at startup, using up memory quickly. It looks like several RGB control programs and background services are running, possibly consuming a lot of resources. Razor Synapse might be handling many processes, which could explain the high usage. That’s not unexpected.
So your system seems stable with no memory leaks detected. I checked for high memory usage and most sources pointed to a memory leak issue. However, I noticed some apps running at startup—like BitTorrent, Razer Synapse, and Corsair iCUE—which can contribute to increased RAM consumption. Additionally, I have Kaspersky AV, Riva Statistic Tuner, NVIDIA GFE, and CC Cleaner installed for security and performance checks. The spike in memory usage you mentioned happened during a game session, not consistently. It looks like the fluctuations were temporary, possibly due to background processes or resource-heavy applications.
Memory leaks occur due to poor programming practices. Prolonged open tabs can also contribute. Chrome’s tab management mimics a leak but doesn’t actually cause it—just behaves similarly. Over time, background processes keep running, making it seem like you’re running low on memory even without a true leak.
I understand your concern. It seems similar to others who reported high memory usage but with a large non-paged pool. Since my usage isn't matching that pattern, it likely isn’t a memory leak. Regarding many open Chrome tabs, I recall playing an RPG game for hours with 5-7 tabs active while following walkthroughs. If you're dealing with similar tabs, consider closing unnecessary applications or using task managers to limit open windows. For Chrome specifically, you might want to review processes in Task Manager and end any that aren't needed.
Chrome tabs are now commonly used as a way to test CPU and memory performance. They usually launch many of them at once. My approach is to avoid using Chrome altogether. Whatever settings you change, it’s something you’ll need to decide for yourself.
I noticed it takes around 400MB even with a single Chrome tab running. Which browser do you think would be better? I usually use Edge for streaming Netflix because it officially supports 1080p quality. Also, I’d like to confirm if the apps that consume most memory are the RGB software—NZXT Cam, Icue, and Razer apps?
Some folks love browsing browsers, but I’m not among them. I remember opera used to be easier on memory. I’m not sure if it’s still the case. I favor Edge over Chrome even though they’re similar, mainly because Microsoft doesn’t track data as thoroughly as Google does. I use Firefox, Edge, and Safari—on my Apple devices. One had a lion logo that I found annoying and kept showing me useless alerts.
Consider giving Edge a shot and observing the results. Also, plan to uninstall apps such as Icue to check if memory consumption decreases noticeably.
