I just received this and have been testing the preview version for a while. The visual style closely mirrors classic 2D CRPG titles from earlier times but feels more polished. It’s interesting they chose a consistent isometric viewpoint, even though I’ve played many similar games—it didn’t bother me at all. Some mechanics feel like either developer choices or adaptations from D&D rules, but they work well together. Organizing skills into distinct styles makes progression trees familiar and satisfying. Rolling for character stats is straightforward (something I really appreciate, unlike the dice roll in traditional characters) and only costs a small amount. The preview includes a limited selection of classes and races, though it’s clear more content is planned. The game runs smoothly and looks vibrant, offering most expected features. I’m excited to try the Dungeon Master mode, which aims to address many issues from Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, so we’ll see how it turns out. Anyone else eager for a nostalgic D&D CRPG experience?
Well the DM and Module creation tools are a total bust. So much so that I am actually processing a refund for this game, it's just basically unusable for any kind of decent story telling, pre-created or in real time. You have no option to manually edit dungeons (You can add objects and such but cannot modify the layout) and you cannot fine tune any of the monsters (just "level up") You can't even fucking do custom loot at all, something as simple as a diary or a note is not possible. The quest options are pathetic there's just trigger by entering x place, by dialogue and by touching object. And the worst part is that you can't take over character dialogue and you can't create dialogue trees . At most you have to create an individual, separate quest for each fucking line of dialogue you want to add and they can't relate to each other unless you spend hours creating literally hundreds of quests for each conversation. It's just basically unusable in this regard. I'm sure that the single player campaign it's decent but given how pathetic the module creation tools are I'm not going past my 2 hour limit, not giving this game another chance until it's like 5 bucks or cheaper.
I dislike that you can't decide who gets to speak in Dialogs during the Coop Campaign. Only the Host may interact with NPCs for the main story. "Oh you don’t have INT but a Party member does? To such a bad point, you still have to answer." That’s completely nonsense!
