Switching to Windows 11 with an i7 9700k and RTX 2070 Super is under consideration.
Hello everyone, I have a query regarding upgrading to Windows 11. After its release, I believe my PC might suffer performance drops on Win11 since it's more demanding than Win10. My goal is to maintain smooth gameplay at 1440p with 120FPS. Should I switch to Windows 11 with these specifications, or should I remain on Windows 10, which will eventually stop receiving support? Given that I plan to keep this system for another 2 to 3 years, what's the best choice considering my needs?
My current setup includes:
i7 9700k
RTX 2070 Super
16GB RAM DDR4
Asus TUF Z390
500GB SSD SATA (for OS)
1TB SSD M.2
1TB HDD
NZXT Kraken X63
Corsair 650W Bronze
Feel free to share more details if you'd like. Thanks in advance!
It isn't more challenging than Windows 10. Should I switch to Win11 with these specifications or remain on Win10 that will soon lose support, given I plan to stay with this version for another 2 to 3 years? If your hardware officially supports it, why not move to Windows 11? As a first step, after upgrading via the internal method, format and reinstall the OS using a bootable USB for Windows 11 to avoid any corruption during the upgrade. Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version. If you still have pending BIOS updates, flash them, reset the CMOS, then proceed with Windows 11 installation in offline mode.
I'm not a professional gamer, yet I haven't noticed any performance drops when switching from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
I actually value W11 memory management even more now.
Some content creators at the beginning mentioned certain restrictions, which I believe might have been more about AMD. As far as I understand, that's no longer a problem. It's not that different from what we see today—it's really just a significant advancement. A lot of similar ideas appear in various areas.
I must concur with USAFRet that there are no problems with games on Windows 11, even for older titles, since it functions better than Windows 10 would.
