I'm not familiar with how ChromeOS functions and I don't really need to know. My main idea remains, though—it operates via a virtual machine, meaning it's not native support. It also can't release a minimal Windows version without Microsoft's consent. This seems highly improbable. If Windows support exists, it's probably through Wine, which itself raises legal concerns.

It's not a standard Linux setup. This version is designed for particular hardware only. To run it on your computer, you need the Chromefy tool or Brunch. If you want it on other systems, you'll need a Chrome OS-based operating system.

Absolutely not, wine isn't going anywhere. You're right to doubt Google's plans—though it might come up with something innovative, I doubt they'll ever adopt wine as a tech solution.

They’ve collaborated with Valve to verify Proton functions within their Linux setup. Steam is expected to launch as a native ChromeOS application eventually, incorporating Proton support from the start. Proton essentially acts as a ready-made Wine configuration.
