I'm considering swapping my Ryzen 5 2600 for a 5600 on my X370 Gaming Pro Carbon board. The latest beta BIOS won't support Pinnacle Ridge, which is a concern. Will updating the BIOS actually work and risk damaging my system?

It updates the system using the newest BIOS for your Ryzen 2600. After a successful flash, the device won’t function properly until the BIOS is recognized by the motherboard. CPU support must be enabled first, otherwise the update won’t take effect.

There appears to be an issue with the older version of Ryzen SMU Checker. Switching to the newer 1.2.0.9 seems to resolve it, and now Pinnacle Ridge support is available. It might be safe to proceed with flashing to this BIOS if you encounter any problems during your upgrade to the Ryzen 5 5600.
