Hello
I'm worried my computer could have been permanently harmed due to a minor failed OC, even though I've tried other methods a few months ago without success. The PC still seems fine otherwise. This time only the CPU clock multiplier was changed from 36 to 40 (the 4ghz target is acceptable and my cooler is working). After applying it, the machine won't power on again. When I press the start button, the fans spin once, and the motherboard shows an error code without a number. I told myself it's fine and thought clearing the CMOS would help, but I can't do that. I've tried all possible ways to reset it, even leaving the motherboard battery out overnight. I also attempted a bare-bone start, but it didn't work. I've tested different RAM sticks without success either. I haven't noticed any burnt components on the motherboard and didn't smell any smoke during the incident. Is the motherboard dead? Could the PSU be faulty? Is the CPU still functional? I really don't know what's going on...

config:
CPU : i5 4670K Haswell
MB : Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UDH3
RAM : 2x 4GB Corsair Vengeance
PSU : Seagate M12 II 750W
GPU : Gigabyte GTX 970
Thanks for your answers

You might have damaged your motherboard, but it's impossible to be certain without posting it.
