It was quite unsettling to discover the issue when adjusting settings in Apex Legends. Initially playing nonstop at 1080p with 75hz, I noticed performance dropped when lowering resolution to 1680x1050 for more detailed enemies. VSync limited FPS to 60, but when enabled at 1080p resolution it capped at 75. Possible solutions might exist if you're experiencing this problem.

Adjust your monitor to that setting and 75hz, then launch the game. When you switch resolutions inside the game, it attempts to update your desktop to that resolution but might not apply the correct refresh rate.

It really made a difference! The only downside is I'll have to handle it manually each time. Still, it was helpful and I'm happy the fix worked.
