I understand you're looking for a way to switch between Ethernet connections. There seems to be a need for a device that can act as a central point, like a hub, to manage those cables.

It seems like you're comparing this setup to an Ethernet switch and wondering why you'd choose one port over another when having both available.

I only have one extra Ethernet port left in my router and prefer not to add more. An Ethernet switch seemed like a good idea. I already run one cable out the window and another through my back door, so I don’t want another one just for my PC. It’s mainly because my server requires high speeds only during game hosting, and when it’s idle, I don’t need Ethernet there—just my PC can handle it.

Obtain a 5-port switch. Connect cable from your router close to your equipment, then use the switch to link two cables from the switch to your devices.
