Consider updating to Windows 10 if you're unsure why you're staying on Windows 7. Evaluate the benefits and decide based on your needs. Staying in Windows 7 might be okay if it meets your requirements.

It's a solid choice that required minimal adjustments to suit my preferences, just like Windows 7 did.

It's best to avoid Windows 10 and opt for Linux unless your programs need Windows support.

For compatibility or gaming purposes, Windows 10 is the best option at the moment. DX12 isn't available elsewhere, and I find the system quite stable outside the insider version, aside from security concerns. Personally, I don't like the glass-inspired Aero effects in W7 anymore—they can be changed with themes from deviantart, but it requires a lot of work and most options are buggy. The original feels quite outdated now. In your case, I’d probably choose something else.

I’d consider upgrading only if I wanted to enjoy the latest DirectX features. Windows 7 remains functional for another three years, and it could receive updates similar to how Windows XP did.

I understand you're aware, but the experience still feels stiff, reminiscent of older interfaces, and I'm used to the polished transitions we have today.
