Hey everyone, I've been using the 7950X since launch mainly because of its great value. It was heavily discounted during Christmas and offered the best clock speed among all Zen 4 models. I mostly play Warzone, but recently switched from an RTX 3080 to a 7900 XTX. Even after tuning my RAM to 6000MHz, lowering the voltage, and turning off HT for better frames, I still feel about 30% weaker in Warzone compared to the 7800X3D. In some titles, 3D VCache really helps, which this setup lacks. I can still sell the 7950X without a huge loss since the 7800X3D also dropped in price. Should I go for it now or wait until the end of the year for Zen 5? Your opinions are welcome—I know it's not a bad CPU, but it barely matches Intel 12th even with all the tweaks.

It depends. If you want it now and have the budget for it, go for it. If you can/want to wait, nobody knows how zen 5 will perform in games that can use the 3D cache well, so it might as well be the 7800X3D ahead again. The 7800X3D processors was released half a year after the initial 7000 series launch, but that will be extra wait.

Are you involved in anything else besides gaming? The idea of a 7950x as a gaming CPU seems completely out of place, regardless of its price being "cheaper." Didn’t you hear the concerns about picking the 7950x instead of the 7800x3D for gaming? At this point, hold on—7950x is more than sufficient until the Ryzen 9000 arrives. It really boosts performance for games, but if your original reason was different, you might be missing out.

i mentioned purchasing 7950x for $499 right from the start, three-dimensional technology wasn’t available for another six months. I had no clue how long it would take for amd to bring that out at that time.

Currently, you're receiving numerous frames. The ones similar to this are around 1%. In my view, exchanging with the same type isn't worth it unless you're facing problems. Hold on.
