A few days ago my reliable GPU fan stopped working (msi gs70). This means even though the graphics card functions, it lacks cooling and will overheat quickly. The CPU fan is still operational and I can run some games using integrated graphics (in potato mode ofcourse). However, for personal reasons I don’t want to use the built-in CPU. I’ve adjusted settings in NVIDIA’s control panel, tried running the game with the integrated GPU by right-clicking the icon, and also experimented with Uplay using the integrated GPU. Still, whenever I check graphics settings in the game, it defaults to the dedicated GPU. I’m hoping someone can help me fix this.

Consider getting a replacement fan if you're ready to open your laptop. eBay offers parts well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-For-MSI-GS7...2845293530 This is only sensible if you're comfortable with repairs. Otherwise, reach out to MSI or the retailer to check repair costs.

I’ve got a backup fan coming soon, but it’s still a month away. It’s frustrating when your equipment fails right when you need it most.
