You and your friend recently exchanged PCs. Now you're aiming to recover your original SSDs, which hold your Windows 10 license. I suspect the Windows 10 license is tied to the motherboard. Is that accurate? If yes, can you fix this by swapping your license keys with each other? Both of you hope to reinstall Windows 10 once the SSDs are back.

It functions smoothly on Windows 10. Microsoft has encouraged widespread adoption, so compatibility is ensured. I've tested it multiple times on my setup and once with a friend’s system, and it worked without issues, unlike on Windows 8 or earlier versions.
