Hello everyone. I have an X570 Aorus Xtreme with a Ryzen 9 3900X and 128GB RAM. I’m thinking about swapping it out for the ROG X670E, Ryzen 9 7950X and 32GB DDR5. The question is: if it boots, can I reinstall Windows 11 while preserving my files and apps? Have anyone tried this before?

Correct, it's recommended to reinstall Windows whenever doing a platform upgrade while reusing the same storage drive. You can do the reset Windows option too. I've had an idea where you uninstall drivers from the previous platform on old platform and then install the new drivers for the new platform on new platform would technically work, however if issues arise due to driver conflicts, that I'm not sure and YMMV. I think I've done it once and didn't really have an issue.

The same chipset drivers and CPU architecture are used. I assume everything should function properly without any reinstalls, though it may identify the device as a new board and prompt for Windows reactivation. Proceed.

You might be fine, I’d give it a shot.

All tasks completed. No need to interact with Windows anymore. I intend a complete fresh install, just didn’t want to do it the same night. After resolving the case buttons issue, I’ll be free at home. ~37000 on Cinebench
