I recently bought a "new old stock" Surfboard SBG6580 to use as an extra AP for my house. I connected it from one of my original router's(D-Link DIR 1253) LAN ports to the SBG6580s LAN port using a Cat5e cable. I can connect to the internet using the SBG6580 Wi-Fi but it's stuck to only 10mbps. I have tested the cable before and it does go up to my ISP's limit of 150mbps, so it's not the cable, or the old router. I cant find any setting for limiting the speed on the SBG6580. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

No, the router or old router does not reveal the actual link speed that was agreed upon on the LAN port.

Have you checked another Wi-Fi frequency? Did you use a distinct device? Was the speed measurement performed with a direct view to the access point?

Old was on channel 159, new on 36. I haven’t tested it on another device yet; I’ll try once I’m back home. It was right in front of me during testing, about 30cm away from my phone.

I attempted to rearrange the channels on both routers, but the speed remained at 10mbps. I also tested with a different phone and an iPad, which still showed the same connection speed.

A software upgrade might resolve the issue. I noticed it fixes odd problems. However, I’m uncertain about the steps involved or whether it provides an alternative solution. The main concern is that you’re using a modem/router combo as an access point, and cable modems can only be updated by your ISP. It’s unclear if the router side has its own firmware updates.

I've checked various options but found none available. Consider exploring alternative methods or suggestions.

These tools aren't meant for APs; they're built to work with Docsis internet plans as a modem/router bundle.

I checked it on a friend's place and achieved 60-70Mbps. Their setup used an Asus RT-AC58U modem, TP-Link Deco E4, and SBG6580. No issues found with their equipment. Possible tips?
