I'm seeking feedback on this configuration idea. I'm currently using an older gaming PC setup: an ASUS Z97-P motherboard, Intel i5 4690 processor (it's not performing well), 16GB DDR3 at 666MHz dual channel Corsair RAM, an 850W power supply, and a 1050Ti GPU that's been working well so far. I plan to upgrade to SSDs or hybrid drives for the main system and games, and eventually move Windows to an M.2 drive for better speed. I'm considering either the ASUS X470 Prime X470 Pro or the AORUS B450 Pro as a motherboard option. For the CPU, I was thinking of the Ryzen 2700X and would need guidance on optimal BIOS settings. The RAM would likely be Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB at 3200MHz DDR4. My PSU and GPU are already in good shape. What are your thoughts? Are there potential problems I should watch for? What adjustments could improve efficiency without breaking the bank? Please share your recommendations.

To cut costs, you can find affordable 2700x models for about £75. Look for local offers on 3600X or 3700X options. This setup also allows you to upgrade your GPU later if needed.

This idea is very helpful, but a budget would help determine the best setup for you. A good starting point is this link: https://old.reddit.com/r/hardwareswap/ (or a local alternative if available).

Super affordable options only. I'm checking Amazon Black Friday sales to see if I can replace some components at a similar cost. In the UK, finding a reliable used PC parts shop is really tough.

Check the old Hardware Swap UK forum and the regional filter for global hardwares swaps, mainly North America.

I'll take a look, but prefer new components over used ones. That's my choice!

Very affordable option, roughly £100 to £130 for the CPU. Staying under £200 total, with RAM around £80. Could find better deals during Amazon Black Friday sales, but not sure yet.

Check if you must adjust RAM frequency to 3200MHz for optimal CPU performance. Review other BIOS parameters that might affect stability or speed. Yes, a PCIe extension can work with M.2 SSDs on this setup, depending on the motherboard and CPU compatibility.
