VPN isn't functioning properly and turning it on causes the internet to shut down. It works regardless of whether you're connected via Wi-Fi or a local network. Additionally, there are DNS issues in Chrome when searching for something that triggers the VPN activation.

I'm setting up TunnelBear or ProtonVPN through the VPN interface itself. I'm not sure about the DNS configuration. If you've used TunnelBear before, I usually see a warning like "the bear is having trouble connecting."

Ensure your VPN configuration lacks an active kill switch. Also attempt manual DNS setup. Open Control Panel, navigate to Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, select Change adapter settings. Right-click the desired connection and choose “Properties”. Adjust this setting individually for each change. Choose “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCIP/IPv4)” from the options and click “Properties”. Pick “Use the following DNS server addresses” and enter your preferred servers, then confirm with “OK”. For DNS selection, consider using Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 if needed.
