After all the confusing reviews, I thought Subnautica was well-optimized, but that’s clearly not true. No matter the settings I adjust, the game still crashes on my GTX970. It runs very choppy and laggy, and I’ve spent the whole day trying to fix it. The console also fails to remember my preferences after restarting, the water textures appear blurry like a pixel blanket, the early developer watermark remains at 1000 font size, and it’s just the start of the issues I’m facing. It seems most other buyers don’t have these problems either, given the game’s high positive rating. Please help me—I’m really considering giving up on new games since so many have broken down lately.

Steam offers a return policy. If you wish to continue playing, I’m unsure of the details.

Moved files into folders and removed all of them, including local data in Steam.

Ask for a refund immediately—don’t waste time. My game took less than two hours and Steam processed my full refund.

The game takes longer than two hours, actually—it's much longer since I've been fixing issues all day.

It might seem like a trivial question, but are you running at full capacity? If yes, revert your settings to the original configuration and make sure you have the latest drivers installed. I experienced comparable issues where my overclock affected my graphics card. These problems weren't universal across all titles, only in certain games. It's worth giving it a shot and it doesn't take any time.

Well maybe you just faced the challenge head-on and got through it. But remember, since it's early access, things might still be rough around the edges. Still, this trend of getting in early can actually make games more polished over time. It's not perfect right now, but it does help turn ideas into finished products.
