I purchased the disc for Sims 4, but I’m uncertain whether I still possess it. I do keep the CD code handy. Could I use that code to play the game and download it online? My origin account is available, though I’m not sure if it grants access or affects this. It’s important to know whether it saves ownership and allows downloads. If your computer lacks a DVD drive, can I still run the game without inserting a disc? I don’t want to connect it to a plug-in drive for portability reasons.

Check if your origin library includes it. If not, I can help you redeem the code there.

I need to talk to my girlfriend about something important, but we can't check on it right now, and she doesn't recall the details.

Start with the origin desktop client, then log in and review your library.

If it can't be accessed via the original app, you might still be able to download it through a torrent, as you own it and the situation likely exists in a legal gray zone.

I have the Sim 4 copy that was initially purchased as a disc and can be downloaded via Origin on my PC. You won’t need the physical CD to run it, so you should be able to play it without one. It seems you likely required Origin to install the game in the first place.

Review the manual or the DVD case for a serial number. If present, install the Origin client. Follow instructions on redeeming a CD/key—note that the current version is outdated but still functional. Updated November 21, 2017 by Sfekke. Fixed Origin Download Link

Back then, before Steam, you'd purchase the actual game with a serial number and had to keep the main disk in... well, you know. Some folks would get cracks just to skip the trouble.

In 2017, even though we had the games on Steam, we still went out to locate the original large box version just to show it on a shelf.

It’s worth mentioning that there’s a small touch of creativity in that, since I own the original copies of Need For Speed Underground 2 and Need For Speed Most Wanted, plus Counter-Strike Condition Zero somewhere. It’s not something you’d do today because my system doesn’t have CD/DVD slots anymore.
