Hello, your HP laptop runs an Intel Celeron N3060 with 4GB RAM and Windows 10. It feels quite sluggish, and you're considering switching to Windows 7 for a potential speed boost. That idea might be worth exploring, though it's not guaranteed to work perfectly. I'd say it could help depending on your specific needs. If you're unsure or lack experience, going through the installation process from a USB drive might be a good approach. Let me know if you need more details! Have a great day.

I also have a HP laptop with the same specifications and an 850 EVO in it. It runs slowly no matter what you do. I installed Linux Mint on it, which helps a bit but it's still not great. The problem with Windows 7 is that drivers aren't available for your system. Don't waste time with Windows 7.

I agree, absolutely. You should never switch to Windows 7. It’s outdated and poses security risks.

Consider using alternatives such as Linux Mint, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, or Arch Linux instead of an older operating system.

Consider upgrading with more RAM and an SSD instead of switching to an outdated operating system. Upgrading hardware like this won’t significantly improve older devices, but it can extend their usability.

Unfortunately, the RAM and SSD didn't help much. I tried an 8GB SODIMM but it didn't work at all. The CPU seems to be the biggest issue here, especially since it's a BGA model—upgrading it isn't possible. If the motherboard is the same as mine, it should have only one DIMM slot, which also makes adding more RAM difficult.

HP Hq-tre. 71025 seems correct, matches what's on the laptop's stickers from the bottom, thanks a lot for all the help!

This particular design includes two RAM slots, making an upgrade to 8GB quite affordable. (However, I find this detailed disassembly quite tedious to perform. Appreciate the straightforward maintenance you offer, HP!) How challenging is it to access the components? I’d only consider doing it during a comprehensive overhaul—cleaning the heatsink/fan, replacing RAM, and swapping the HDD for an SSD. This isn’t a laptop meant for random opening.
