You need a network design for a new office. It should support secure internet access, include WiFi for mobile devices, allow wired connections for Macs and PCs, and have a printer. At least 80 devices will need wired links. The system must separate guest Wi-Fi from company employees, ensuring only authorized staff can use the printer.

It's not really homework, it's for a real office setup. I've already linked the modem to both PCs and Macs, but the configuration is still a bit messy. Thanks. I'll include my network design attachment.

Based on building size, I’d opt for Ubiquity mesh networking plus a firewall router for security. For wired connections, a router linked to two 48-port 10G switches works well. Ubiquity supports guest networks or a Cisco setup with Active Directory for user control. Printers should connect via the network switches and be authenticated through the server so guests can’t print from them. On a smaller scale, I use three access points tied to a router that manages DHCP and DNS via my server, plus a separate VLAN for guest traffic isolated from the main system.

If building-wide uplinks existed, would this still be your top recommendation? You might have stumbled upon an 80-user setup one day and chosen it? Either way, bring in a specialist.

I notice two major issues here. 1. Why would anyone build a network just for you? People actually pay for these services. 2. Even if someone tried, you haven’t provided enough details. My advice: hire an expert, and you’ll understand what I’m saying about the first point.

Budget details, needed internet speed, distance from farthest computer to a network closet, spacing between closets (if any), and your office's bandwidth. I’ll try my best—though I’m not an expert.
