2133 is the standard base frequency for DDR4. Every module will operate at this rate, and exceeding it is essentially overclocking—whether using XMP or DOCP. You should be able to install two DDR4 RAM sticks of your preference and install them together. Just make sure to swap both units, not just add another 8GB stick.

The Dell E7270 supports BIOS features and SSD RAID technology. It functions as an updated version of AHCI. Besides that, I’m not sure. I’m looking to purchase larger SSDs.

I haven’t encountered any problems with using RAM personally. Just as you mentioned, they’ll both operate at the slower speed of the weaker one. If budget matters, test it first and get a second if needed.

I believe this applies mainly to top-tier systems such as i9, which include RAM protection and bit verification features. In the 6th generation i5, these capabilities are limited.

Dell doesn’t build any parts for those laptops, which might be the problem. Meanwhile, you can also get a better Civic version.
