You're on AM4 with a Gigabyte X570 Elite Wi-Fi board running Windows 11 Home. Recently, the system reported "no boot device found." After checking BIOS and CSM support, you enabled it and then disabled it, re-enabled Trusted Platform Module version 2.0, and it worked again. You experienced a reset that caused Windows to fail to detect drives, but after a few restarts it resolved itself. Now the CSM is turning on again—what can I do to prevent it from reactivating? Your new SSD is a 128 GB drive, and you ordered a 1 TB SSD because only 20 GB are free. You're hoping a fresh Windows installation will fix bootloader issues. Changing the CMOS battery might also help.

As discussed, swapping the CMOS is a smart move. Make sure to update the BIOS to the latest release as well. If you’re already using the newest version, a fresh install isn’t necessary.

Swap the small battery in the CMOS compartment. It's just a standard CR2032 cell.

Hopefully swapping the CMOS battery will resolve the issue, though it doesn’t always work when I power on. It sometimes resets the system intermittently. I’m planning to get a new battery today and wish it would fix the problem. Concern about updating the BIOS—some advise against it unless you’re installing new hardware, as it might damage your setup. I’ve never changed the BIOS before; my current version is F11 from 2019 or 2020, and there are several updates available.

You can always update to an older BIOS version. Many motherboards allow this process without needing the CPU or RAM. Changing BIOS is now much more secure than before.
