Support for Z390 PCIe bifurcation technology
Hey everyone, I'm setting up a Z390 Aorus Pro with an i5-9400F and want to add an Asus Hyper Gen 3 M.2 card in a RAID setup. I know my CPU can't handle multiple PCIe lanes and won’t recognize more than one drive on the card. But if I switch to an i7-8700K that supports bifurcation, would that work? I’ve checked and seen conflicting info—some say my board doesn’t support it, others confirm it does. I’ve reached out to Gigabyte but haven’t gotten a quick reply. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
The issue isn't with the CPU itself, but rather with the motherboard. It seems the board must accommodate it, which is uncommon since few people use such setups. This isn't particularly advanced technology for everyday users, so why are you considering this?
Affordable options for M.2 drives are limited, and there are no HDD slots available in my setup. I tried to add more M.2 slots, but it looks like I’ll only get one per PCIe lane that’s free.
