Support for PSU

We’ve gone through some talks. I think I’ll team up and use a 3800x/3900x setup. For the motherboard, I picked the X470 Aorus Gaming 5 or a newer X570. Regarding RAM, I went with Corsair Vengeance LX 2x16GB at 3600mhz CL18 kit. I have a Master GX 550w Bronze cooler with 80+ rating. My main concern is whether this PSU can support both the 3800x/3900x and a future upgrade to a 2060 Super or 2070 Super. I’m not sure if the PSU is compatible with AMD boards. Thanks for asking—no big deal if it seems simple!

I would search for components on pcpartpicker.com to see the overall maximum wattage. Then you can figure out the ideal power supply, usually adding 100-150 to that number. Include any RGB lighting, aftermarket CPU coolers, hard drives, fans, etc.

Go x570 ensures future CPU compatibility. For later upgrades, consider a 3300x or lower for the CPU. Target around 3600 CL16; CL18 is acceptable. 550w is sufficient, though it should still function. All ATX power supplies work with AMD and Intel.

I understand your point. The X470 doesn't support future Ryzen CPUs. Regarding the GPU, 550w is sufficient but should still function.

I don’t have the precise model details for everything in your setup. I made some assumptions and estimated power needs of over 450W using a R9 3900X. A PSU with 650 watts or more would be recommended.
