Can you surpass the RAM speed beyond DDR4 2933 on an i7-10700 with this Gigabyte Z590M board? Here’s its QVL details. However, when checking the motherboard site under memory, it shows... processors supporting DDR4 5333, 5133, 5000, 4933, 4800, 4700, 4600, 4500, 4400, 4300, 4266, 4133, 4000, 3866, 3800, 3733, 3666, 3600, 3466, 3400, 3333, 3300, 3200, 2933, 2800, 2666 and 2400 MHz. The 10th Gen i9/i7 supports DDR4 2933/2666/2400/2133 MHz modules. The 4 sockets can hold up to 128 GB of memory in a single DIMM. Memory overclocking depends solely on the motherboard. As long as it supports it, you can achieve it regardless of the CPU status.

they aren't deceiving, they merely lack evidence to back it up. the overclock range is typically not officially supported, just a matter of being permitted or restricted.

It seems confusing. They mention overclocking for newer chips but don’t clarify if older ones have similar limits. The reasoning behind this inconsistency is unclear, especially since supporting RAM overclock beyond certain thresholds would make more sense.

They believe most boards will be matched with the 11th generation because the supply drop after the 10th generation will last only a few months. This adds extra effort to demonstrate value to fewer buyers. On the other hand, some Ryzen models allow testing across CPU generations, possibly indicating Intel's involvement.

Z590 may skip memory during the 10th generation; I own them and they function properly. Memory OCs aren't always reliable, even when available.
