Support for 3990x 256GB storage options
Testing a 3990x build with Asus Rog Strix trx40-E. Will the system function properly with 8x32gb RAM at 3200/3000 MHz? Mostly relying on Corsair Lpx 3000 or GSKILL Ripjaws 3200. Need confirmation if upgrading RAM to 2666 will work and if it will run smoothly in this setup.
4x32 fits on your boards, but check the QVL list for official 8x32 support. For most users, upgrade to an EPYC 7702P on a workstation board that handles 8x32 or bigger at 2933 with proper dimensions.
Don't worry about reading it; I assumed you meant 32 instead of 8x32.
the imc handle can support up to theoretically 2tb, so you should expect it to work. you might need to adjust settings to handle 3200/3000, but 2666 is a feasible option if you have the budget and want a more powerful solution.
I understand but perhaps a small SOC boost or higher voltage increase could reach at least 3000, making it simpler than using Hynix memory.
I match the identical setup (processor, motherboard) and the 256GB RAM operates at 2800Mhz.
