I need to check my video card's performance. What are the optimal settings? If it runs too fast, could it cause damage or failure?

The current clock speed of your GPU is to be decided by the individual creating the OC.

I don't know, I think it's already overclocked using the MSI app. It's not the MSI afterburner. The app lets you press OC mode, gaming mode, and another setting. I've checked it now that way, but I'm curious if I can push it even further or what the maximum is.

Uhm, I don't know, I think it's overclocked using the MSI app. Not the MSI afterburner. Just that app lets you press OC mode, gaming mode, and another setting. I've clocked it this way now, but I'm wondering if I can push it further or what the maximum is. The max should be when the card starts to artifact or even shut down. My Evga GTX 960 came out of the box with a stock clock of 1480MHz. I suggest you check your current clock speed before you want more.

Using the MSI gaming app in OC mode gives me a GPU clock of 1241 MHz. The memory is at 1803 MHz and the boost is 1304 MHz.

It's not optimized for OC mode using the MSI gaming app.
It has over 25 cores and more than 100 MB of memory.
