From what I remember from playing, the shield acts as an additional layer on top of your own. It uses up resources in stages—50 for the first shield, then 100, then full health. You mentioned hearing others enjoy using shields, so you added one to your existing shield.

It resembles the overshield from Halo. You can get it without any modifications, serving as your initial protection. When it runs out, you'll need to rely on other defenses that don't recharge. I'm unsure if it's accessible in build settings, but it seems to be a separate option.

You can withstand damage easily since it doesn’t require healing or shield potions. Its recovery time is relatively quick.
