Consider titles that run smoothly on your setup. Story-driven games are great here, and you'll enjoy them with your i7-8665U and 16GB RAM.

I don't believe specs are ideal for picking games; focus on finding titles you enjoy and test them yourself. Steam refunds can be useful, giving you the chance to get a refund if something doesn’t work. You’ll have access to many games that aren’t heavily graphics demanding 3D triple-A titles. Some of my favorite games include Civ 5/6 (I lean toward version 5), cs:go (free to try), cuphead, rocket league, Terraria, The Escapists, Stardew Valley, Hearthstone. Overwatch is another favorite with good optimization—possibly playable at 720p. There are also games like Dont Starve and Oxygen that aren’t included. You can enjoy a wide range of indie titles too. If I had to pick two from my list, it would be Stardew Valley and Terraria. Both run smoothly and offer extensive content; Stardew is especially narrative-driven. Just a note, from my perspective, Stardew might not appeal to everyone, but it’s a standout, and many critics (including myself) found it enjoyable. It easily ranks in the top five of my personal favorites. Terraria is also excellent—great for social play and packed with discoveries and mods.

According to Vandorlot, take advantage of Steam refunds. You’re limited to playing for up to 2 hours (just under 2 hours is best) and must request a refund within 2 weeks of buying. Purchase the game you like, test it out, and if it doesn’t work, return your money and try another option.

Dark Souls is a solid pick. Since it was made for the PS3, it shouldn’t be too tough. Plus, it’s really enjoyable!
