Suddenly FPS drops on 4090-13900k model
Yesterday I observed my FPS in all games dropped noticeably with no clear explanation. I’m unsure what to investigate or adjust because I haven’t made any changes and I’ve reviewed every known setting—NVIDIA control panel, power options, CPU, RAM. I refreshed Windows after the problem began so everything is up-to-date. My Asus TUF Gaming 4090 OC Intel 13900k with 32GB Kingston FURY Beast MSI Z790 CARBON WiFi runs Windows 11 22H2 with Nvidia driver v531.68. I’m not seeing high temperatures or CPU/GPU/RAM usage, so the cause remains unclear. Games have been tested since MW II; I was expecting higher performance (around 600+), but now I’m seeing 200–235 fps. Quake Champion was running at 130–150 fps previously, and America’s Army is now 150–200 fps depending on map size.
Use DDU to clear the graphics drivers and install new ones from scratch.
I attempted several fixes but nothing resolved the issue. I restored the system to a previous state to regain stability and spent the day yesterday reinstalling Windows and recovering data. By morning, testing a game still showed the problem persists even after a clean Windows installation. Do you know if there are any reported problems with this occurring on a 4090 model?
