Details: 12600k MSI Z690 Pro-A DDR4 (BIOS v7D25v1A) 4x8GB GSKILL 3333MHz EVGA XC3 3090 (KFA2 390W vBIOS) EVGA 1000W T2 Custom water loop on CPU and GPU Windows 11 v22H2. Recently I was using folding@home on this rig (slightly undervolted CPU, no GPU overclocking, power settings unchanged). The screen went off, I moved the mouse to activate it (it blinked briefly before shutting again). I tried restarting and eventually pressed the reset button. After a while without a display, I powered it down and resumed work.

Troubleshooting steps: Connected directly to the motherboard, confirmed display was present. Ran GPU-Z and system tools, but GPU wasn’t detected. Reinstalled GPU in PCIe slot, reattached power cables, reset CMOS. Still no display or detection in Windows. Inserted a 1070Ti into the lower PCIe lane and got a working screen, which was recognized in Windows. Returned to 3090 but issue persisted.

Logs: Event Viewer showed repeated errors for dwm.exe and dwmcore.dll, including fault codes and timestamps. Exception details point to a possible driver or firmware conflict.

Thoughts: It seems the card might be failing, though it has worked fine for months with BIOS KFA2 and water cooling. Please verify BIOS version, check for updates, and ensure no pending driver issues.

Yes, the issue persists with detecting compatible hardware during driver reinstallation.

Does your card feature a Dual-BIOS toggle? It's possible your present vBIOS might be damaged.

It seems the system doesn't recognize the device, and I'm uncertain about the process for flashing the BIOS if it isn't detected by my hardware.

You should consider returning it at this stage. It depends on the number of bios chips on the board; otherwise, you'll need to contact a specialist technician.

It was purchased quite some time ago. Contacting the seller about obtaining a receipt for an RMA could be worthwhile, though it's not common. Some manufacturers may not require this information at all.
