The WoW system has changed a little bit. First of all you need to buy the game, the Battlechest has the all the content except the current expansion (Legion). Buying the Legion expansion allows you to access ALL the game content and comes with a Free lvl 100 character of your choosing. Then you have to buy game time. You can either get a subscription which is the cheapest $ method. Or buy just a single month (you can also buy 3 months and even 6 months at a time, the more you buy, the cheaper it is), this means you don't get a sub, once that time is over the account will freeze until you add more time. However there is a new method which doesn't use money at all. It's available for all players that have the game purchased. You can buy a TOKEN directly from the Auction House in game (no trading with players involved, just head to the WoW token menu on the AH which will have only one button that says "buy token"). You can right click the token to instantly add 30 days of game time. Regarding the gold price: These tokens are not super expensive, but they aren't cheap either. An active player that does some gold farming each weak either by selling things in game or playing the auction house, will get the gold for a token within that month, so you can keep playing without ever putting $ again. For a casual player that doesn't actively look for gold inside the game at least a couple hours each weak, then you won't get enough gold on a month to buy the token.
Begging can be effective, but it only helps if you spot who has already received free days. It usually works a few times before stopping. It's useful to beg just once, then use the days to gather gold, and finally purchase a token for 30 days of gameplay.
I noticed the various currency values and learned about the in-game payment system, though I wasn't sure it was real. My friends mentioned it would be steady throughout the month. (Around 89K gold for 30 days) Sounds exciting! I had my account since before 2009 and stopped playing then.
Yes, it functions well and isn't limited to World of Warcraft alone. You can utilize the WoW Tokens you purchase with Gold for various purchases on the Bnet Store. The value of each token varies depending on your country settings—my experience shows that with three tokens, you can buy Overwatch. These tokens also work for Mount purchases in the Blizzard shop, server transfers, or changing factions. The price of each token is determined by a supply-and-demand system; currently, it's around 89k per token. Gold is now more accessible than before, with 89k being a reasonable sum. Typically, you can earn 1-2k gold daily through regular quests (World Quests). You can also accumulate class hall champions, which rewards between 1-5k gold daily based on your follower network and luck. Selling BoE items that drop during raids can yield 5-35k gold. Certain professions offer strong earning potential, such as farming old raids, trading items, or buying low and selling high on the auction house. You can also earn by requesting access to your account via a Ticket, allowing you to purchase with the remaining gold from 2009.
