Student's computer experiencing slow performance while using Zoom for lessons
I’d be very clear about the issue. My laptop is running sluggishly during Zoom calls, feels excessively hot to the touch, and the fans are making a loud noise. I’m confident the problem is overheating the CPU. The fix is straightforward: remove the old, dried thermal paste and apply fresh thermal paste. I’m wondering if the school would actually replace it or just provide a new one.
I'll inform them about the possible CPU overheating concern. I may inquire whether the individuals who brought our laptops for cleaning also replaced the thermal paste, though I'm uncertain about that. I'll also ask if IT can install Core Temp or HWMonitor on my laptop so I can monitor temperatures.
The main problem with a laptop stand featuring fans is the constant movement at school. I need to store my belongings in my locker during break times and lunch. Since there are no fixed seating arrangements, using an external keyboard or mouse with a fan isn’t convenient. I plan to contact my principal to inquire if IT staff can remotely access my device and install core temp, as I’m unable to do it myself because I’m not an administrator.
