This Half Life 2 version holds up well for its time. There are countless high-resolution modifications available, letting you customize the experience. Black Mesa was a long-running project, and it reflects that in its design. It not only matches the original but also enhances it. Personally, I think you should try the original first, then Blue Shift, followed by Half Life 2 with all its content, add Portal, and finally go back to the beginning with Black Mesa.

GTA 3 is still my favourite GTA game, followed by Vice City. I don't really view them as outdated, any more than any other older game. & even if they technically are... it doesn't mean that you still can't enjoy them. Some of my favourite games are from that era. I wouldn't be too hung up on whether something is outdated or not. As for Half Life... HL2 is still perfectly fine. But I actually prefer the original. There is a mod called M-Mod that was recently made for it (& HL2), which I think is fantastic. Especially with regard to it doing away with hit-scan weapons. Then there is always the remake Black Mesa, which is amazing!

Thanks @QuantumSingularity for sharing your thoughts. I really value your input. You're right, with so many mod communities out there, it's important to know which one stands out. I hope you remember this responsibility for the rest of your life!
