Struggling to get RAM to operate at the target MHz without overclocking?
By default, RAM operates at reduced performance. Adjusting Ryzen RAM timings ensures compatibility with your Infinity Fabric, rather than focusing on raw RAM speeds.
Aio costs too much, even 360mm or 420mm are cheaper than what you get. The nzxt cam tends to create odd problems such as window issues and freezing. Ram is also expensive; a 32gb 3200mhz model costs around 160$. There’s cheaper RGB RAM at the same speed. The biggest concern is the high price of Aio versus paying full for W10—W10 OEM keys are about 20$ on sites like scdkey. SSDs are pricey but useful for large transfers; gaming isn’t essential. At least pick a good mesh case. Trident z Neo is said to be optimized for AMD, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t hit advertised speeds at 3600mhz with 1.5v. Try boosting the voltage gradually until it stops working—it might be faulty RAM or CPU. If replacement RAM still fails, consider replacing the CPU; it could be an IMC issue. If the problem continues, maybe the board itself is defective.
The 5800X can reach up to 4.85GHz by default. At light loads it performs exceptionally well, while under full load it stabilizes around 4.2–4.4GHz, with slight variations based on the memory type. Turn on 3600MTs for maximum performance and experience a powerful PC.
The Ryzen 5800X is officially supported only with DDR4-3200. Higher speeds will need you to manually adjust the CPU's Integrated Memory Controller settings. By default, RAM operates at the JEDEC standard speed and timing (DDR4-2133). You might have to activate D RAM O ver C profile or tweak the frequency and timings yourself in the BIOS. DDR4-3600 is compatible, but results can vary depending on your specific CPU and motherboard. In short, outcomes may differ. You could try enabling DOCP to pre-set timings, then adjust the DRAM speed slightly lower than listed—like DDR4-3200 or DDR4-3400—to verify functionality. If it works at a lower speed, you can gradually increase to DDR4-3600 or beyond.
Not sure how to reply, but thank you for the review...? Haha. It looks like you might have confused the numbers. Your RAM should be running at 3600MHz CL16. I’m not sure if anything’s wrong, maybe I misinterpreted your settings? I reset the BIOS defaults and tried the DOCP profile, but my CPU keeps hitting 4.2kGhz or higher even when idle. Could the DOCP profile be affecting the CPU frequency? Also, what do MTs stand for? And is it normal for a CPU to run that fast all the time? Please help me figure this out!
This configuration works well with B-Die modules. They react to higher voltage levels. If memory training isn't enabled on the board, you must set it manually as instructed. Set docp while lowering the frequency and raising it gradually—use f10 to save and restart. Navigate to BIOS and adjust until 3600MHz is reached. Only proceed if XMP isn't applied. Running the clock faster than 3600MHz with increased voltage is fine; overclocking beyond that may need active cooling. Aim for around 3800MHz at about 1.410V, or slightly higher. A CPU voltage of 1.18V should perform adequately. Using 1.2V is more than sufficient. GL and enjoy! Also, update the retry counter to 1—typically three attempts are needed before things seem stuck.
You're asking if your DOCP configuration matches an XMP profile. You're experiencing consistent high performance claims from your Ryzen 7 5800X but seeing low utilization in Task Manager while the CPU runs near 4.8k–4.8k MHz. The strange behavior with GPU utilization suggests a possible mismatch or instability after installing the MSI 1650 graphics card. It might help to verify your XMP settings against the official MSI documentation and ensure they align with your hardware specs.
You have sufficient temperature and power margins, allowing the CPU to operate at a higher boost frequency. That’s typical. Are you using the Ryzen Optimized Power Plan? Ensure all required drivers are installed and your graphics drivers are up to date.
I just downloaded the chipset drivers from AMD's site, but I'm still missing the available AMD Ryzen power plan choices.
