The minimum suggested upload speed would be around 5–6 Mbps for smooth 720p streaming at about 40 frames per second. Your current 750 kbps is sufficient but may cause issues, so upgrading to the recommended range would help avoid problems.

It's not just about how fast the upload is, but also about its consistency. Your connection needs very little variation in speed.

Feel free to experiment with the bitrate settings. However, using more than 5 Mbit would be better for a smooth streaming experience.

is the setup working properly? with everything configured right, my 4790k should handle 720p30 at 1Mbit smoothly. plus, Twitch doesn’t tolerate higher bitrates than 3.5Mbit.

I meant a high-quality stream at 1080p at 60 frames per second. The previous attempt worked with my friend’s slow laptop, which was definitely not ideal.

Currently, I'm using the A8-6600K with an 7750 and mainly streaming Dota2 at full settings. For a bitrate that balances 750-1Mbps and 720p30fps, something around 1.5 to 1.8 Mbps would be reasonable.

Generally, laptops aren't suited for heavy encoding, none of the four tested reached more than 25fps with OBS.

Your streaming quality depends on both your bitrate and upload speed. A YouTube 1080p stream typically uses around 8mbps, while 4K videos can reach 25-30mbps. For Twitch, a solid stream usually needs about 3.5mbps, which means a minimum upload speed of that amount. To ensure smooth performance, especially when streaming and playing games, you should aim for at least 5mbps upload. This gives you some buffer and helps maintain stability.

A smooth stream under 5mbps at 720p35fps would require high compression and stable bandwidth, such as using H.264 with low bitrate settings or adaptive bitrate streaming.
