I have a Sony Alpha 7 Mark III, mainly for taking pictures...but now I also want to use it as a webcam. It seems okay at first, but sometimes it stops and shows just a black screen. Every time I turn it on, it works again after restarting my computer. But I can't just turn it back on every few hours, which is annoying. I tried reinstalling the drivers, but that didn’t help. I also closed all programs that use the camera, but it still doesn’t work. I’m trying to connect it through an Elgato Cam Link 4K, and I’ve switched USB ports a bunch of times without fixing anything. My PC has an i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 4GB DDR4 memory, and a GTX 3070 Ti graphics card. I’m not sure what else to do, but maybe someone can help me out. Thanks in advance! And if you have to explain it like you’re talking to a five-year-old, that would be great. I just need it to work for Discord and Omegle right now. Other cameras I use are fine, and the cables I used are also working.

Standard cameras typically include a pre-set video recording duration of 20 to 30 minutes.

There seems to be another method to try, but the repeated switching of the cam doesn't fix the problem. Let's explore further.

They suggest purchasing a video camera, though I have no method for converting it. However, modern digital cameras are significantly more affordable now, making the effort unnecessary.
