Stream rate dropped during download.
Stream rate dropped during download.
Hello, I noticed something unusual with my Steam client. Previously, I was averaging around 28 MB/s, but after returning to my PC it dropped to just 1.2 MB/s during downloads. I checked everything I could find and even installed the newest network drivers, yet the speed remains limited to 1.2 MB/s. This is really frustrating given how large games are now. Could you help me out? It’s quite unbearable. Thanks in advance!
Verify HDD/SSD performance and CPU activity during the incident.
During the download, your CPU is handling decompression quietly in the background. If it isn’t speeding up enough, Steam might be slowing the download to help it keep up—possibly because of settings you’ve adjusted.
It's also possible the download server is experiencing problems. You can adjust the download server in Steam settings.
Various games employ distinct compression settings, which can affect processing speed. How does your CPU performance look?
Absolutely, it doesn’t seem related to compression. Are you setting up the game on an SSD? You might want to monitor the temperatures just in case.
