You're facing challenges with your Plex server when streaming 4K content using Dolby TrueHD audio. The experience differs from 4K with DTS, which works smoothly. The buffering or playback failures seem linked to the audio format and network setup. Your server runs Windows 11 on an I7 processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and a 10TB HDD connected via Cat 7 Ethernet. The TV is connected through Wi-Fi due to the limited Ethernet port speed (10/100). You're using Plex Pass with hardware transcoding enabled on an Intel UHD770 chipset, but this seems to exacerbate the issue.

How strong is the Wi-Fi near the TV? Did you run a speed test directly from the TV without using a phone or laptop nearby? If your connection is just 10Mbps on the TV, then a 10/100 Ethernet link will be quicker and have less delay.

Ensure the file size stays under 100MBit. Prefer the wired link. A ShieldTV might be necessary due to codec restrictions.

Check the Plex server's CPU metrics to see if it's being pushed into transcoding mode.

I own a few 4K films that run at 93MBPS, which is right around the speed of a typical 10/100 Ethernet connection. After testing more, it looks like the TV's codecs are the problem. I switched the default audio from TrueHD 7.1 to AC35.1 and it seems to work now. I'm using hardware transcoding, keeping CPU usage under 30%.
