I was considering assembling a new PC and thought about getting a 10700k or 10900k. I aim for around 260-280 fps while streaming, since I play competitive games and also have a school team. I’m planning to go with an 2080 Super with EVGA support, which would let me upgrade within about 90 days if Ampere releases something new. I haven’t seen any streaming benchmarks yet, so I’m excited to hear your thoughts.

Based on past use with an 8c16t CPU, OBS (similar to SLOBS) operates using the number of threads specified by the user, and it also incorporates the NVENC encoder.

You specify the threading requirements by adjusting your GPU settings or driver options, ensuring the 6820hk uses the appropriate threads for smooth streaming.

Task Manager > Details > locate slobs.exe (presume this is its name) > Right click > Set Affinity > select desired threads You might also adjust settings for the game. Be aware this could cause other issues, proceed at your own risk. Alternatively, consider using an external capture card to remove video signals from your PC and possibly another device. Then verify if the card supports your desired resolution and refresh rate.

Since many games don't scale well beyond eight cores, upgrading to something like a 10900k with ten cores could free up resources for streaming and system needs.

Uncertain about the exact numbers, but a 2600 fps plus 2060 fps combo running at 180fps in OW with low-high tweaks on 1080p while streaming (using NVENC) in 1080p at 60 should work fine.

Having a powerful CPU doesn’t necessarily mean you should skip using NVENC. It depends on your specific hardware and game requirements. If your GPU can handle the workload, skipping NVENC might waste resources. But if your CPU is strong, it could help balance performance without sacrificing quality.
