Strange performance drop in the laptop's frame rate.
In short, I power on the laptop using battery, play a game where FPS stays at 60. When connected to power, the frames don’t improve. Restarting and plugging it in works, but even after unplugging, the FPS remains stuck. GeForce Experience isn’t installed, though battery boost might have caused a similar issue. Anyone know what’s going on?
Generally, any game I launch—currently testing Rocket League and H1Z1, with Minecraft as an exception—functions normally. By turning off fullscreen optimizations in the app’s compatibility settings, the games stop being limited. However, this seems more of a temporary fix rather than a solid solution, since I have to adjust it for each application. It appears there’s an issue with the laptop’s power management, possibly a reset setting that activates every time I power on or leave it unplugged, causing FPS to drop.
Your laptop's GeForce Experience is limiting the frame rate to conserve battery power. If you don't already have it, install GeForce Experience. After installation, log in and navigate to the settings by clicking the small icon in the upper-right corner. Select the games tab, where you'll find a battery boost option—toggle it off if needed.
