I sometimes encounter these odd ghost inputs from different keyboards without clear reasons. While I’m not ruling out dirt or grime entirely, I’m open to other possibilities. However, checking the key test website doesn’t show any unusual key presses. When I try to capture the screen, the cursor moves unexpectedly even when the mouse is off, which is puzzling. The text selection doesn’t behave as expected—no up arrow holding or similar action. Pressing the Windows key causes the selection box to shift to the top left, staying stuck in "Start." If I press the arrow keys, it seems the cursor resists moving. Could this indicate a virus?

If your mouse moves upward, check for dust or debris on the sensor or see if altering the pad changes the drift. I’ve experienced this with several mice until I discovered the problem was with the surface reflecting the laser. Also, run a scan with malwarebytes to ensure no unwanted software is present on your system. What are the make and model of your peripherals?
