In short, I swapped the RAM and tried to start up, but it didn’t work. I thought about resetting the CMOS since it’s a separate part, so I unplugged everything again and took the battery off for a couple of minutes. After putting it back in, the PC didn’t power on at all. I attempted to reset the CMOS by shorting the pins on the motherboard, removed the battery once more, making sure everything was aligned, but nothing changed. I’m running out of options now. This wasn’t supposed to be a straightforward upgrade.

It might be a bad RAM issue; try the older one to check if it resolves the problem.

Do you have the original kit? If yes, start it now. Also, let me know the specifications.

The system will restart and load the previous memory configuration.

I first installed the RAM and the LEDs lit up but the system wouldn’t start, so I cleared the CMOS—it’s a new part and BIOS might have gotten confused. I’ll attempt the original unit, but pressing the power button shows no activity at all, no fans, nothing appearing. I’ll try the new kit instead, but it doesn’t boot physically either; it started initially but didn’t post with the new RAM. The specs are: MB: B350, CPU: Ryzen 5 2600, GPU: EVGA GTX1070, RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 2x8GB, PSU: EVGA SuperNova G3 650W (80+ Gold), Storage: 1x Samsung Evo 970 NVMe, 1x Samsung Evo 860 SSD.

Will attempt it; shorting the two pins performs the same function as a battery. For this, the power cord should be disconnected from the back.

Another method you can try is to first reset the CMOS by unplugging the PSU, then clear the CMOS. After that, remove both the RAM and CPU entirely. Reconnect the power and attempt to boot the system without them. Turn it off, reinstall the RAM and CPU, apply the thermal paste again, and finally power it up. The system should function correctly now.
