Stop purchasing games priced over $60 USD!
Businesses are adding $60 on top of their planned DLC, pushing total costs past $100 in some instances. Purchasing games for just $60 at release makes companies question the value. This pricing limits sales to fewer titles each year and makes it hard for most buyers to get a game at launch. Acting now could eliminate the $60 charge entirely. I began this when I could afford 3 or 4 games annually, compared to the usual 8. Games should retail between $30 and $40, ideally even less than $30. The usual price for an AAA title remains at 60 USD, and it won't shift any time soon.
PC games on the console have existed for about 60 years. However, PC games are more common than console games, which have been around 30 to 40 years, especially in places like Sweden and other regions I've visited.
I’d really prefer to pay £40 for my games only if they came with all the DLC content included. I tend to wait until a title is affordable on G2A or Kinguin, matching my perception of its value rather than my personal desire. I haven’t paid full price recently, but GTA V was different—I got it pirated on Xbox 360 and regret not supporting the developers for more than 100 hours of fun. You should think about how much effort goes into creating these games and how much time developers invest. Many creators deserve fair compensation for the work they put in, so it’s important to understand both perspectives before making a judgment.
It's fine with $60 if the experience justifies it. I understand paying for optional DLC unless it's the very first day. The idea behind DLC should be respected, but it shouldn't be misused. Prices should match the value provided. A 15-hour AAA campaign might cost $40, an 80-hour RPG around $60, a simple indie game $10–20, and multiplayer online could range from $40 to $100. As long as the game feels worthwhile, I’m okay with these amounts.
It's been this way for a long time, and nothing is expected to shift. Just move on from the complaints.
As mentioned earlier, console games have existed since the 1960s. PC games, on the other hand, became more affordable over time, though digital versions are now available in many places.
