You're experiencing the same issue with graphics settings across both your laptop and desktop. It seems adjusting them is necessary for optimal performance on each device. There might be a reason to configure the graphics settings specifically for one machine only.

In the updates part of the game settings, the Steam Cloud checkbox is present but its impact on your campaign saves isn't clear to me.
